Unfollow Donald Trump
Although Donald Trump lost the presidential election by a smaller margin than predicted by national and state polls, Joe Biden did win the election in a clear way. Please don’t listen to President Donald Trump. Don’t fall for his lies and deliberate confusion. Let’s think about what happened before and during the election. Trump focused on saying two things: a) mail-in voting is fraudulent and not reliable (at best); b) therefore, don’t vote by mail; vote in person. Now we know based on election data that most people who voted for Donald Trump did it in person. We also know that most of the mail-in votes were for Joe Biden. We know the story of the vote counts: in person votes were counted first (which included many Trump votes, in most cases), while mail-in votes were counted last (which included a majority of Biden votes, in most cases). These facts can explain how Biden was able to overturn the Trump vote in states such as Georgia and Pennsylvania. Really nothing magical about it. Of course, Trump has issued multiple suits and will continue to do so, as many times as he is allowed to do so. Overall, those suits have not gone and will not go anywhere. Some individuals from his legal team have actually acknowledged this.
These are the facts: Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election in a clear way. Joe Biden will become the 46th president of the United States at noon on January 20, 2021. Everything else between now and then will be just Trump being Trump. Donald Trump dictated the news cycles for more than four years using Twitter and any other media at his disposal. Let’s not let him do that anymore. Let’s all unfollow him--both literally--and figuratively. Trump should become a bystander starting on January 21. We don’t have to listen to him anymore. Yes, Joe Biden will face many challenges to overcome during his presidency (likely anybody who would be president following Trump); but these may also be perceived as meaningful opportunities to move the country closer and forward. Although we know that after his presidency Trump is not going anywhere, lets not allow him to dominate the news cycles, again. Remember that hope springs eternal and we should also hope for the normalcy of the presidency and of American politics overall, which may likely contribute to bringing the country together. As someone said: let’s make the presidency boring again.
